The Route- summary

Written on Sunday, March 30th, 2008 at 2:22 pm by forecastman

The proposed route should take us almost exactly 1,000 miles in 11 days (well thats the plan anyway). Starting at John O’Groats naturally and finishing at Land’s End (obviously), but taking in Dunnet Head and Lizard Point, the most northerly and southerly points respectively in mainland Britain.

We are therefore doing not just End to End, but top to bottom as well.

We would also like to point out that going top to bottom is deemed to be harder than LeJog (south to north), as it means cycling against the prevailing winds. Lets hope its not too breezy. It seemed like a good idea at the time…………..

The route includes several Scottish Lochs, including Lochs Ness & Lomond, for a touch of scenery. A short ferry trip from Helensburgh to Greenock (for variety and to bypass Glasgow!). A diversion into Wales to add a third Country and a visit to Mick & Kathy’s for a wash & brush up.

We also intend to visit a number of hostelries along the way for academic research into regional variations in traditional british ales. We hope to sample as many different ones as possible and David will carry out detailed data analysis on the results (possibly)

Pretty pictures and maps to follow when we crack the technology………….

Plan is:
